Continuing with my Latin music themes, right after recording the two tangos, I also re-recorded a Mexican bolero – “Besame Mucho”  (Kiss me a lot). This time, however, I did it in a new full orchestral rendition on a Yamaha Clavinova.

For those of you who may not be familiar with the history of this famous song, “Bésame Mucho” is a song written in 1940 by Mexican songwriter Consuelo Velázquez. It is one of the most famous boleros, and was recognized in 1999 as the most sung and recorded Mexican song in the world (Bésame Mucho).

I first recorded this music on my antique piano in June 2008.

Here’s Consuelo Velázquez performing her own version of Besame Mucho in 1990.
Consuelo Velázquez died 15 years later (in 2005). In Aug 2012, Google paid her a tribute with the above cover art.
