“CAPRICCIO ITALIEN” ALLA “AIDA:” TCHAIKOVSKY’S MUSIC, VERDI’S OPERA
A musical phantasy born in the Arizona desert
While doing a memorial hike on May 12, 2017 for my friend Michael Morrison, who passed recently, in the McDowell Mtns above Scottsdale, I was listening to this Spanish rendition of Tchaikovsky’s “Capriccio Italien” over and over again. And the entire time, I had scenes from AIDA flashing in my head. It felt as if Tchaikovsky had written the operatic score for the Act 2 scenes from Verdi’s Aida.
And so today, I made a music video so you can all see and hear what I saw and heard yesterday on my hike. Enjoy!
A film by Bob Altzar Djurdjevic – May 13, 2017 – dedicated to my late friend Michael Morrison
WARNING: To the more prudish among my viewers and listeners, some of the ballet dancers in the Italian production of AIDA are topless. I am sure that Tchaikovsky would have approved of it. 🙂
